Where Did April Go?

Whoa subscribers, I have missed out on a month of blogging. It has been a very busy time though. I’ve done a bunch of travel that I can’t really talk about, I worked with Caesar on his rehabilitation, My regular job has been awful busy with new training, new year goals and budgets, and the never ending continued snow.

But we finally got out and did some camping last week. We went down to Altoona Pennsylvania and had a great camping trip at Gallitzin State Park. Out of the trip I did a video on the state park (which was really nice(the state park, not necessarily the video)), some of the things around Altoona that were interesting (Trains, Plane & Caves), and the national historic site “The Portage Railroad”. Those are active links above of course that should take you to the videos if you haven’t already seen them.  You have my permission to watch again if you want !

I also did a fairly quick video on getting my trailer ready for the camping season. Mostly flushing out the antifreeze and sanitizing the plumbing. But also checking tires and lights and other things. That video is linked right here: Winterizing Your Trailer.  Hopefully by now everyone with a trailer has gotten it ready for camping !!

This particular weekend I’m stuck at home doing car repairs because my cars are seeing their extended mileage taking a toll. My Honda CRV requires brake work because of a frozen caliper on the rear brakes. I don’t know about the current models of CRV’s but anything before 2010 has a serious problem with the calipers freezing up and causing excessive brake wear. Luckily I have bought brake calipers from NAPA auto parts and they are guaranteed. So hopefully I can swap them out for very little cost. It’s the one advantage of buying locally versus over the internet for auto parts, you can return stuff the same day ! Both of my cars also need New York State inspections, and I really need new tires on the Honda.  But they are legal until September so I will wait until then to get a slightly more aggressive “All Season” tire.

An interesting thing I learned from the video I did just for fun, CHANGING MY REAR WINDOW WIPER ON MY FORD EXPLODER. I had also thought I was going to have to change the pump to my windshield washer fluid. However after I installed the new rear window wiper the windshield washer pump began to work. I don’t know if that was the way it’s programmed, or if it’s just luck. I’m a firm believer that the way they build these cars and tie together programmed operations is just crazy. But a word to the wise, if any 2 things on your car don’t work that are somewhat related, change out the more complicated one before the other and see if it fixes it.

Well,  back to work, I have a very cluttered desk to clean off and some safety programs I’m writing that need to get finished !  I’ll try to get a more useful Blog post out a little sooner.  Like In a week or less.

Get out and get camping !  And stay safe !
