Well, as I sit here in the Aliner, listening to the rain pound on the bubble windows and Tap. Tap, tapping on the rest of the camper, you would think I would get used to it! After 4 weeks of travel and camping in it, I believe we might have seen 3 days with no rain. And luckily (I guess) most of the rain has fallen at night or while we travel. I say luckily as it doesn’t change our plans or fun. I don’t mind driving in the rain. After all “GoingNoWhereFast” is my moniker. Akela on the other hand gets very jumpy with the banging and thunder. When we sleep and it’s raining he wants to cuddle right up tight. You can really define true love as hugging a wet dog in bed so he’s not concerned with the noise!
I’m writing this from the Robert W. Craig memorial campground on Jennings Randolph Lake just over the Maryland State line in Keyser WV. It is a really nice campground with 68 sites. Just 2 basic loops, and one bathhouse, but several flush toilet house around the campground. The Parking pads are all paved and everything is in great condition. And as I have always found, the volunteers and hosts and park attendants (Employees) are extremely nice and friendly.
Now my impression of the park may be slightly biased, so here is the disclaimer. First, we are here with the 4 hosts and 3 other RVs. So we have the entire park to ourselves. Akela is leash free and no one seems to mind. There are no children, no yappy little dogs, no pit bulls or anyone to complain we are breaking the rules. Though I had to reprimand Akela once for stealing sticks (Firewood) from a neighboring campsite. Not that’s its wrong really since no one is camped there, but he can’t learn he can go and get sticks from just anywhere. And he does actually know what campsite boundaries are.
Our site is #53, which was very hard to remember, because Yesterdays site at another COE campground was #43. I know, that doesn’t make sense, but that’s the way my brain works. You haven’t noticed something weird about my brain yet? You need to watch more videos closer. But the site is quite large and very comfortable. To stay in line with my lack of intelligence, we are pointing North, so no solar. But it has electrical hook-ups anyway. So I can be redeemed.
And lastly, The evening was topped by the person who opens the camp store from 5-7pm stopping by to see if I needed anything. Since there were only 3 campers, It seemed easier to do a curb service run than sit around and wait for customers. I’m afraid my big mouth messed up her plans, since I chattered with her for about 40 minutes. She was an enormously interesting person and we had some crazy similarities in our lives. She plans going out west nomadic in 2025, the same time I do, and we had some great pointers to throw at each other. It was a very pleasant experience. I hope to hear from her again.
Well, the rain has stopped for a few minutes, as it has before. I think I will make a quick stop at the bathroom before bed and then turn in. After all it is almost 8:30pm. Akela is asleep on my foot and has been since the rain got heavy. I’ll do a better review of the trip and the places we camped in Next weeks blog. This one I just thought I would get out since the rain was so hard and Akela was so bothered by it, and really everything is so wonderful. Interesting how sometimes the “bad”, “Scary” , “Worrisome” things cover up and sometimes smother the good things. And this is a very good place to be tonight.
Just thoughts on a stormy night!

It could be. Though the rain did cause him some distress. Especially since I won’y let him run around in it and get all wet before he jumps into MY bed !! The New Wolf Pup will have an “Akela Bed” area.

lol The sound of rain in the Aliner. I know it well. Inside is still a cozy-feeling space in a storm (as long as the wind isn’t too bad.) I’m looking forward to your videos from the trip out west when that time comes.

It probably will be 2025, my tenth year of YouTubing. I’ll hope the fires are done and that a little rain falls so I can see the desert in Flower. I see Burning Man almost got rained out this year..lol. You just have to appreciate Mother Natures sense of humor!
This campground might make Akela’s top ten list!
